Walk through The Picturedrome’s front doors and you immediately realise that the deceptive exterior hides a spacious and very unique venue indeed.
The Front Bar has a laid-back café feel and plenty of natural daylight filters through the concertina windows which are flung open on sunny days. A favourite haunt for our customers to sit and read the papers or do a spot of internet surfing via our Wi-Fi connection.
Walk through the double doors into the Venue Bar and you are struck by the sheer size of this cavernous auditorium. At the far end, a stage and a 14ft screen are adorned by heavy velvet curtains – a respectful nod to the historic movie-theatre past and an impressive bar runs the full length of the room.
A flight of stairs leads upwards to the Mezzanine that overlooks the entire room with plenty of comfortable seating.
Another short flight of stairs takes you out on to the spacious balcony where high balustrades allow drinkers their own private seating area flanked by the neighbouring rooftops.
‘The Drome’ is privately owned and is run by local people for local people. For more information on The Picturedrome and its surrounding community check out www.myabington.co.uk.
